The McKimm Transit Story

Founded in 1952, McKimm Milk Transit began as a family-owned trucking company serving the dairy industry. Kenneth McKimm purchased his first truck-trailer units from Kraft Foods Company of Wisconsin in March of 1952. McKimm Milk Transit served the local dairy industry, transporting dairy products from locations in Minnesota and Wisconsin, while also providing the first farm-to-creamery tanker-truck service in the Hutchinson area. The company was built on the belief that hard work, integrity, and exceptional service create lasting relationships. What began as a family-owned trucking operation serving the dairy industry has grown into a respected transportation company known for reliability, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to customers.

For more than seventy years, McKimm Milk Transit has remained family-owned and operated. Through three generations, the company has continued to embrace the values established by its founders-honesty, safety, accountability, and dedication to doing the right thing. Those principles have guided the company through decades of change while allowing it to grow and adapt to meet the evolving needs of customers and communities.

Today, under the leadership of Ken’s grandson Michael McKimm and Alec Westlund and Colin McKimm, members of the fourth generation continuing the McKimm family tradition, we honor our heritage while looking ahead, committed to safe, dependable transportation and building a legacy for future generations.
